Pho Ca Dao to Open First South Bay Location in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, CALIF. – Phở Ca Dao has announced it will open its sixth restaurant at 303 Broadway in Chula Vista in May. This is the sixth location of the family-owned group of restaurants and its first in San Diego’s South Bay.

The Huynh family opened their first Phở Ca Dao restaurant on El Cajon Boulevard in City Heights in 2001. They have since added locations in Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Poway and Santee. Each restaurant is independently owned and operated, allowing them to put their own unique mark on the family business to meet the needs and tastes of the local neighborhood.

“Our customers have been asking us for years when we were going to come to South Bay,” said Thi “Duke” Huynh. “People would travel to our nearest locations in City Heights or Santee for our phở. Now, we’re thrilled to be able to share our family’s special recipes with our new neighbors.”

“Ca Dao” means “folk song” in Vietnamese. Like music, family recipes for traditional dishes like phở are often passed down from generation to generation. Phở Ca Dao specializes in its namesake Vietnamese noodle soup (phở), honoring their family’s unique recipe and tried-and-true method of slow-simmering the broth for eight hours to achieve their signature flavor. The restaurant also offers a variety of grilled-to-order meat items, including beef, pork and shrimp, served over vermicelli noodles or broken rice, as well as their popular egg rolls and bánh mì sandwiches.

The new Chula Vista location will be serving a variety of wines and local crafts beers on draft, completing the guest experience within a beautifully renovated new dining room.

As a token of respect and appreciation for those who serve our nation and community in uniform, Phở Ca Dao Chula Vista is proud to offer all first responders and active military personnel in uniform a free phở or broken rice entrée during the soft opening and grand opening. “Our business has been built on a commitment to quality and taste, with no shortcuts, rushing and skimping on ingredients,” added Huynh. “Our family values and passion have helped us thrive for 17 years and counting. As our business continues to grow, we are always looking to give back to the communities that support us in this journey. We look forward to our new chapter in the South Bay.”
