CHULA VISTA, CALIF. – The Living Coast Discovery Center will host “Elegance on the Bay” on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the zoo/aquarium on San Diego Bay in Chula Vista. The elegant reception will honor the leadership and contributions of San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox, Floyd L. Wergeland, Jr., M.D., Founding Director Emeritus Stephen Neudecker, Ph.D., Board Chairperson Susan Fuller and other volunteers and staff who have helped the Living Coast reach this important milestone. San Diego Green Building Council Announces Featured Homes for 2017 Green Homes Tour on Oct. 22

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Green Building Council (SDGBC), an environmental nonprofit dedicated to providing education, outreach and advocacy focused on green building in the San Diego community, has announced 10 homes that will be featured on the Green Homes Tour on Sunday, Oct. 22. This year’s home sites are located in the communities of Golden Hill, South Park, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Lakeside and Valley Center. Now in its eighth year, the San Diego Green Homes Tour brings together hundreds of members of the local community to celebrate best practices in green building and design while showcasing the innovative work of some of the industry’s top professionals.

Rest Haven Children’s Health Fund Announces 2017 Grant Recipients

SAN DIEGO – Rest Haven Children’s Health Fund, a foundation supporting health-related services for underserved children in San Diego and Imperial Counties, has awarded $210,150 to 18 area nonprofit agencies through its 2017 grant funding cycle. Rest Haven has undergone a competitive request for proposal process each year since 2008, averaging $200,000 in annual giving. Through this process, the foundation has now awarded a total of $1,826,861 in the form of special one-time grants to 44 different nonprofit agencies who share its children’s health mission. Living Coast Discovery Center Celebrates Animals on the Bay Day with Free Admission on Oct. 8

CHULA VISTA, CALIF. – The Living Coast Discovery Center, a nonprofit zoo and aquarium located on San Diego Bay in Chula Vista, will host its annual Animals on the Bay Day on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the only day of the year that the Living Coast offers free admission to all guests. During this unique event, guests will have the opportunity to learn about local wildlife and conservation and participate in games, presentations, face painting, arts and crafts, prize raffles and more.
